Teaching Tips

Five principles that show up in every Left-Handed Learning resource.

01

More reps. More ready.

One worksheet is exposure. Twenty is ownership. Build weekly cycles that hit the same words through context clues, definitions, parts of speech, and retrieval practice. Fluency lives in volume.

02

Color = map.

Lock yellow to word banks, pink to context clues, green to definitions, orange to POS/synonyms. Students stop hunting headers and start working. Huge win for ESE and ELL.

03

Neon is the highlight, never the ink.

Black text on neon yellow is readable from the back row and dyslexia-friendly. Neon text on white fails contrast. Keep the lights on. Bright materials belong in bright classrooms.

04

Print + project, zero setup.

Every resource must work as “double-click and project” or “print and go.” Answer keys always included. No Canva required. Teachers in a hurry win.

05

Chunk the task, frame the language.

One action per sentence. Sentence frames for ELL. Reduced choices and larger text for ESE. Rigor stays. Barriers drop.

Built by a teacher who still cares about the lights staying on.

Left-Handed Learning started in 2013 on Teachers Pay Teachers. The focus has always been the same: high-volume practice that works for the full range of students — regular ed, honors, ELL, and ESE — without turning the classroom into a cave.

Resources are designed for Florida BEST and NGSSS first, then mapped to CCSS, TEKS, and Virginia SOL. Lexend typography, permanent color coding, and answer keys on every set are non-negotiable.
